A space for clarity, healing, and forward movement
Professional support for individuals and couples in Hinsdale, IL and Chicagoland area.
Welcome
There are seasons in life when things feel heavier than usual—when anxiety lingers, relationships feel strained, or something significant has shifted beneath your feet. You may be carrying grief, facing a diagnosis, questioning your next step, or simply feeling unlike yourself.
Whatever brings you here, it matters.
Therapy is a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re going through, and begin to move forward with greater clarity and steadiness.
Alison Graft, LCSW
I’m Alison Graft, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Hinsdale, IL, with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through some of life’s most complex and emotionally charged seasons.
My work includes individual therapy, couples therapy, and relationship-focused coaching. In addition to traditional couples therapy, I also offer a more structured and forward-focused coaching approach for couples facing major transitions, navigating separation, rebuilding trust, or trying to gain clarity about the future of their relationship.
Clients often come to me not only for support, but for clarity.
Clarity about themselves.
Clarity about their relationship.
Clarity about what comes next.
My style is steady, thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in genuine human connection. I believe meaningful work can happen alongside moments of honesty, warmth, and even humor. I don’t rush the process or impose a one-size-fits-all path. Instead, I help clients slow things down, better understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and move forward in a way that feels more intentional, connected, and aligned with who they truly are.
Whether we’re working together in therapy or coaching, the goal is not only to help you make meaningful, well-supported decisions, but also to deepen self-awareness, strengthen your relationships, and reconnect with a stronger sense of yourself along the way.
Individual Services
Therapy that meets you where you are.
-
Anxiety can show up in many forms—constant overthinking, a sense of urgency that never quite settles, difficulty sleeping, or feeling on edge even when nothing is “wrong.” Over time, it can start to shape how you move through your days and your relationships.
In our work together, we’ll slow things down and begin to understand what your anxiety is trying to communicate. Rather than simply managing symptoms, we’ll explore the underlying patterns, helping you feel more grounded, more in control, and less at the mercy of your thoughts.
-
Depression often feels like a quiet heaviness—low energy, disconnection, or a loss of interest in things that once mattered. It can also come with self-doubt, frustration, or a sense of being stuck.
Therapy offers a space to gently explore what’s beneath that experience. Together, we’ll work toward restoring a sense of movement, connection, and meaning—at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of where you are.
-
Past experiences don’t always stay in the past. Trauma can shape how you feel about yourself, how you relate to others, and how safe the world feels.
This work isn’t about rushing into painful memories. It’s about creating a sense of safety first—then gradually making sense of what you’ve been through in a way that allows for healing, integration, and greater ease in the present.
-
Grief can follow many kinds of loss—not just the loss of a loved one, but also the loss of a role, a relationship, a version of life you expected.
There’s no right way or timeline for grief. In therapy, you’ll have space to process your experience honestly, without pressure to “move on,” while also finding ways to carry your loss with more steadiness and meaning over time.
-
Even meaningful or desired changes can feel disorienting. Whether you’re navigating a career shift, a relationship change, parenthood, or a new phase of life, transitions often bring uncertainty.
Therapy can help you make sense of where you are, reconnect with what matters to you, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
-
Living with a medical diagnosis can affect every part of life—emotionally, relationally, and practically. It can bring uncertainty, fear, grief, and moments of deep resilience.
This space is for all of it. Together, we’ll work to support your emotional well-being as you navigate the ongoing realities of illness, helping you feel more supported and less alone in the process.
Couples Services
Guidance for wherever your relationship is now.
-
When communication breaks down or disconnection sets in, it can feel hard to find your way back to each other.
Couples therapy provides a space to slow down patterns that aren’t working and understand what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we’ll work toward clearer communication, deeper understanding, and a more intentional way of relating—so your relationship feels more stable and connected.
-
If your relationship feels uncertain—where one or both of you are questioning whether to stay or separate—this can be one of the most difficult places to be.
Discernment counseling is a short-term, structured process designed specifically for this stage. Rather than rushing toward a decision, we focus on gaining clarity about what’s happened in the relationship and what each of you wants moving forward—so that whatever decision is made, it is thoughtful and well-grounded.
-
Divorce doesn’t have to be driven by conflict.
In collaborative divorce coaching, the focus is on navigating the process with intention, respect, and emotional steadiness. I work alongside you to support communication, decision-making, and the emotional aspects of separation—helping you move through this transition in a way that aligns with your values.
-
Life after divorce can feel both freeing and disorienting. There’s often a mix of emotions—relief, grief, uncertainty about what comes next.
Post-divorce coaching offers support as you rebuild. Together, we’ll focus on helping you process the transition, regain stability, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of direction.
